Looking At CinemaSins' And My Criticism Of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

10 - A better way for the movie would've been for the Star Destroyer guns within firing range of the escape pod, to miss the escape pod. Multiple empty pods could be jettisoned by Leia, so that the imperials couldn’t shoot all the pods.

The beast that CS mentioned in sin 16-17, was too slow to catch things. If that Lambda shuttle that we saw came from that Star Destroyer, it likely wouldn't have had that beast on it. So George Lucas probably imagined that the shuttle came from a Tatooine settlement. It would've been more realistic to send a Lambda from that Star Destroyer (I read Vader had a shuttle for himself) if there wasn't an imperial presence close by. That would've ensured that a Lambda arrived quickly behind the slow droids.

19 - It would've been better if tracks from the droids led the trooper to presume that droids had left the pod (as no life forms were detected on the pod).

24 - That red astromech broke down because R2 sabotaged it. That was revealed in the radio drama for Star Wars. Movies should be judged on their own.

30 - Her capture was soon after the end of the Rogue One movie, so how would Luke know she was part of the civil war? Also, there are lots of planets in that galaxy. Others likely had royalty. So Luke wouldn't necessarily match the title of princess with Leia.

40 - Luke could've been knocked out, so the Sand Person could torture him. Luke's forehead was probably hit with the center of that weapon. The movie could've shown the knockout method.

46 - It wasn't yet known if Luke would later turn evil. An evil Luke could tell Vader about Leia if Luke became an apprentice/servant of Vader. An evil Luke could later (i.e. after killing Vader/taking his position as top Sith) try to turn Leia. i.e. via torture.

47 - Vader's personal men were clone troopers. They were more obedient than other humans because of a chip in their head.

48 - CS was presuming that the Stormtroopers came from that Star Destroyer in the beginning of the movie. I don't think that happened because that beast was there with a Stormtrooper on it. So how did the Stormtroopers get so far behind? Perhaps the Sand Crawler tracks (which had C-3PO tracks connected to it) disappeared via sandstorm/wind and the Stormtroopers happened across that SandCrawler later. Granted, the movie didn't show a sandstorm wiping out the tracks. That would potentially be good for storytelling. Did George want to leave the audience in suspense?

49 - Vader grew up there. The stormtroopers could've radioed in to Vader (once they spotted the SandCrawler, or after they attacked the SandCrawler) and Vader could've told the Stormtroopers to make it look like a Sand People attack.

53 - According to George, anyone could use the Force to some degree. So she could've willed the resistance. The Force could've been used by her to alter her brain (which would've been altered by the serum) back to normal. Or, maybe the Force could shield her brain from contact with the serum. Whatever the method, it probably involved using the Force on a small/easy scale. If so, Vader wouldn’t clue in to the fact that she was very gifted with the Force. Update: The radio drama revealed Leia was trained to resist interrogation (I think Vader said it to Tarkin. So he could’ve said that in the movie). She didn’t use the Force to resist. My ideas weren't bad though.

54 - Although that was doubtful/probably not the best choice for the movie, perhaps it was the Jawa way for cremation as soon as possible after death (Muslims believe in burial as soon as possible after death). Jawas could’ve believed that it would send their spirit quicker to the afterlife/paradise. That was probably the last of that Jawa tribe.

58 - Although that wasn't the best choice for the movie, there is a plausible reason for that interaction. Droids can be annoyed (i.e. C-3PO). There was probably no harm done to that flying droid. Perhaps the owner of that bipedal droid designed that sort of interaction to occur. When the maker's kid saw that, the kid could laugh.

59 - Perhaps the owner of C-3PO before Anakin altered the programming, so that C-3PO could also dislike Jawas.

87 - I think the technicians were unarmed. The radio drama revealed: The Stormtroopers searching the Falcon had to leave the Falcon to not confuse the sensors/scanner…

88 - Metal is an issue for infrared.

89 - If you look at the scene before, 2 Stormtroopers were directly next to the landing ramp (guarding the entrance to the ship). Then they were gone. Other Stormtroopers were also seen leaving the area. Vader probably ordered them to leave the area.

90 - CS mentioned 2 things here, but he only counted it as 1 sin. The first thing made me think: Stormtrooper height is standard. Leia asks if Luke is too short to be a Stormtrooper. That was not the best choice for the story, as it could cause doubt that his armor fit. As to CS's second point: 3 shots were fired after 2 Stormtroopers entered the Falcon. Maybe 1 of the good guys drew fire by briefly appearing in a corridor. Obi-Wan could've crushed their windpipes with the Force. (Luke quickly does that to 2 Gamorrean guards)

Going back to point 88 - a better way, story wise, would've been for 2 Stormtroopers to stay guarding the entrance to the Falcon (without technicians sent aboard. Patrols went through the ship already). Obi-Wan could crush the wind pipes of the 2 Stormtroopers with their backs to the entrance. Someone didn't look through the window above that hangar all the time. Obi-Wan could sense when the way was clear. So the good guys could pull the 2 dead stormtroopers aboard and equip their armor.

91 - Chewbacca could have got an urge that he couldn't help. Wookies could get urges like that. The corridor was clear perhaps. (Luke was further down it)

93 - A port could be a security feature, so unauthorized access would result in shock.

100 - First, Han's aim from there was terrible, as Han shot that red thing next to the opening (that is interesting, as they had good aim while they were targeting those security cameras). Second, the Stormtroopers could've had grenades. Han may've been worried about that. Stormtroopers on the Death Star could've had stun/flash grenades, as there were many citizens there.

110 - For 1 thing, Vader didn't want all the Rebels to be killed. So perhaps with the Stormtroopers being ordered to not kill all of them, the Stormtroopers thought running would be better than staying in a close range firefight, where those main characters would have an easier time hitting the Stormtroopers.

The second 111 - Vader didn't mind if some Rebels got killed, as he only needed some to escape, so Vader could find the Rebel base. CS questioned how 'everyone' on the Death Star could know of the plan to let the main characters escape. Vader's legion could've been the only ones on the Death Star searching for the good guys. The stormtroopers doing the search could've had helmet speakers. Han or Luke knocked on their Stormtrooper helmet to signify that communication was down.
